7 notable deals this week (2022 – week #45)

๐ŸŒฑย ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ดย  Saga Robotics, a Norwegian startup developing a robot dedicated to control mildew, notably in strawberries, raised ยฃ8.5M to fund its growth in the UK and then in new markets such as the US and Italy.

๐Ÿ—ย ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธย  Heura, a Spanish startup, raised โ‚ฌ20M, to develop its plant-based meat alternatives. This round is said to be only a bridge to pave the way to a very big series B round in 2023. In Spain, Heura has already a market share of 30% and plans to grow in other European markets.

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธย  ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ชย Constellr, a German startup, raised $10M for its water monitoring solution using satellite images.

โ˜˜๏ธย ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธย Synonym, a US-based startup, raised $6.3M for its synthetic biology facility (for non-pharma use cases). Other companies will be able to use the facility to produce their own ingredients. This is linked to DigitalFoodLabโ€™s recent note ont the opportunity of cloud-based bioreactors accessible by any company looking to enter the bio-economy.

๐Ÿงซย ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งย  Roslin Technologies, a UK-based startup, raised ยฃ11M for its cell lines dedicated to cellular agriculture companies.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณย  ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธย  Meez, a US-based startup, raised $11.5M for its recipe management software. It helps chefs to create a set of recipes which can then be used to decrease by up to 80% the training time of new team members. In an industry with high turnover, thatโ€™s game changing.

ย ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ย NuCicer, a US-based startup, raised $7M (notably from Bayer) to develop its protein-rich chickpea crop.
